After earning a doctorate of veterinary medicine from an accredited 4 year veterinary school, a dentist completes a minimum 2 to 3 year residency training in dentistry. A veterinary dentist is recognized as a diplomate of the American Veterinary Dental College and is joined by approximately 272 other diplomates throughout the world.
